Ms. Myrtle Dickson

Welcome, my amazing kindergartners and parents! My name is Ms. Myrtle Dickson. I am from Charleston, South Carolina. I have no relatives here, but with God’s help I have raised two daughters and seen them through high school and college.

I enjoy working at Pacific Christian Academy because it’s a school that displays God’s love in every classroom and throughout the building. I like the unity of our staff and the atmosphere of our school. It’s a school that has a purpose.

I obtained my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Clark College in Atlanta, Georgia. I have taught at Pacific Christian Academy for 25 years. I also taught first graders in Atlanta, Georgia for 2 years, and Kindergarten in the Bremerton School District for one year. I am very passionate about teaching 5-6 year-olds, helping them to develop their spirit, soul, and body, and also giving them a strong foundation in academics with fun and excitement.

I am available for appointments after school upon request.

Welcome!!!!

Parents and Kindergarteners of Pacific Christian Academy

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I am very excited your child is in my class! We are going to learn new and exciting things. Our theme this year is “I Choose". I will be helping the children to be all God has called them to become so they will be fully equipped to impact the world.  I am also looking forward to meeting you and working together to ensure that your child will have a wonderful kindergarten year.

Below is a list of important information that will be helpful to you throughout the school year.

  1. PCA website: Visit our website at pacificchristianwa.com to find out all important information about the school. There you can find the yearly calendar, the school supply list, our dress code, the Parent Volunteer Handbook, and much more.
  1. School begins at 8:00 AM and ends at 2:50PM. Please make every effort to have your child here between 7:45-8:00AM. Students are considered tardy at 8:00. For pickup, your child will be waiting for you at the North Entrance. Ensure that your child is picked up by 2:50PM. After 3:00, your child will be taken to Adventure Club and there will be a charge for this service.
  1. School Supplies: Please be sure that your child has the necessary school supplies each clearly labeled with their name. The supplies list is available on the school website. This is very important because we will be doing a lot of coloring, cutting, etc. When any item is running low, I will indicate this in your child’s planner. A speedy replacement will be greatly appreciated.
  1. Important Updates will be posted on my weekly newsletters.
  1. School Planners: Each day your child will bring home their planner. Please take a moment to read and sign your child’s planner each day. This is very important for you and me to keep communications open. I will be checking their planner each morning for any notes. **Remember to send a note if your child is absent. You may also use the absent student form from the school website under the Parent & Student tab.
  1. Weekly Red Folders will go home each Monday: The folders include a class newsletter, anything you need to sign and return, and test papers. These signed papers must be returned the next day so they may be kept in your child’s file.
  1. Grading:

A          90%   -   100%

B          80%   -   89%

C          70%   -   79%

D          65%   -   69%

F          Below 65%

  1. An extra set of clothing: If your child still has periodic accidents please provide an extra set of clothing in their backpacks.
  1. Lunch: A microwave is available for a 1 minute warm up only. Therefore, there is not enough for cup of noodles or frozen dinners. Please let me know if your child has any food allergies. Please also pack a healthy snack every day, including water. We will have a snack each afternoon, so please pack a few other healthy goodies in their lunch as well.
  1. School Days/ School Closures: This information will be posted on our PCA website and daily news channels.
  2. Chapel: Chapel day is on Fridays this year. Feel free to dress your child in church attire.
  3. Volunteer Opportunities: If you have any time to spare throughout the week we would love to have you volunteer!
  4. Contact Information: If you have any other questions, concerns regarding your child or would like to visit our classroom, feel free to email [email protected], leave me a voicemail at 253-943-2500 (extension 2514), or by writing a note in your child’s planner.

Once again, welcome to Kindergarten! Let’s work together to make this the best year EVER.

Sincerely, Ms. Dickson
