Meet Mr. Keith Accisano

My name is Keith Accisano (many a student has tried and failed to pronounce that last name!), and I teach secondary English classes here at PCA. I have a bachelor's degree in Biblical theology and a master's in secondary English instruction, and I love bringing my knowledge from both fields into all my classes. I've always admired the beauty of the written word, whether it be found in a moving poem or an expertly crafted essay. In fact, other than the beauty of nature (which you will likely find me admiring outdoors whenever I'm not in my classroom), I believe there are few things that reflect the mind of God more clearly than written language.

Have you ever paused and reflected on the fact that God used written language –physical ink and paper- to communicate His Word to us? He could have given it to us verbally, or spoken it to us telepathically, but a book, the Bible, was His chosen medium.  And if God choose written language to communicate the greatest of spiritual truths, the most powerful depths of emotions, and the most important of all historical events, shouldn't the study of written language be of particular interest to the Christian? Shouldn't we seek to understand this tool which the God we call Father has employed? I say to you, as I say to my students, that the answer to these questions is an emphatic “yes.”

English in particular is a language with a rich heritage of godly written works, improving to the mind and stirring to the soul. It is my hope that by guiding students through a small selection of such works this year, they can become better equipped to understand mind of God, and to express that understanding through their own writings.

I look forward to an outstanding year with our high school students here at PCA,
